The first Hamba documentary attestation dates back to 1337. The prayer hall was built between 1829-1830, but the belfry at the beginning of the 16th century, on the foundation of the XII-XIII century. Perhaps at that time the church was fortified, the tower was strengthened and a defense gallery was also provided. The altar was built in 1844 and the organ in 1837 by the Friedrich and Maets brothers in Biertan.

The Hamba Church was decommissioned. For lack of believers, the furniture was taken out of the interior and distributed to the churches of other evangelical communities. The altar is located in Turnișor, the Sibiu crystals, and the organ can be seen at Biserica Neagr (Black Church) Brașov, in the southern balcony.
