The St Mihail ChurchThe monumental gothic Catholic Church was built in place of the former St. Jacob chapel between 1350 and 1437. The altar was built about 1390. The length of the body is of 50 m, the height of the walls of 20 m and the neo-gothic tower together with the cross is 80 m height with this being the highest church-tower of Transylvania. The first tower burned in 1698. In place of it they've built a baroque style tower, what had to be battered down after an earthquake and a blasting. The actual tower was built betwen 1837 and 1862. After the original cast it would had two towers but it was built only one. During the restoration works (the last being between 1957 and 1960) there were turned up the XV century wall-paintings. The church was of several confessions in the past. After the confessionist, the reformed and the Unitarian confessions the Catholic Church got back its property in 1716. The Transylvanian sovereigns were inaugurated here: Zsigmond János, István Bocskai and Gábor Bethlen.
