The settlement known, since 1332, as Ibisfalau has got a frantic history, but let's leave the clarification of the chicken and egg situation to the historians, and let's marvel at the two large edifices, the castle and the church. In this settlement, which was named by the Romanians Ibisfalau, we can find the Apafi castle. Built in 1552, it was named after Mihály Apafi I. Transylvanian sovereign. This castle was meant to be a real fortification. On one side its battled stone walls and a moat, on the other side its a large lake, that protected the castle. After the die out of the Apafi dynasty their domain becomes the property of the treasury. Its from the treasury that the Armenians, harbored by Mihály Apafi I., bought the domain. The Armenians had good commercial spirit, this spirit and strength of making good deals is proven by the Minster built between 1766-1783, in baroque and neo-classical style. Its dimensions are impressive, and the altars and organ only boosts the effect.
