Someșul Cald Lake

Someșul Cald Dam was built in 1983 on Somesul Cald valley between two existing reservoir lakes, Gilău and Tarnița. The accumulation was designed for energy purposes. From Tarnița Lake, the water produced by the hydroelectric plant at the foot of the dam, flows through a concrete bed and after several hundred meters, flows into the tail of Somesul Cald reservoir.

The valley is blocked by a massive concrete dam. The construction has a height of 34 m, the length of the canopy reaching 131 m in length. By retaining seven million cubic meters formed a lake of 78 hectares and 3.8 kilometers long. On the left bank of the lake were built dozens of holiday homes and berths. On the right bank there is a paved road. Warm Someșul lake, the water which has been processed by the hydroelectric dam situated at the base, after a course of 2-300 m, with a concrete bed, lake Gilau reach.
