Surduc, Jósika castle

In XVII century Surduc was property of The Csakis. From old mainson built in the middle of a beautiful park was kept only servants' house, right after the entry, the rest suffered major modifications.

The mainsona transformed in a castle probabily in XVIII century because at the begining of XIX century was recorded as castle. In 1810 ended in The Jósikas' property.

The maternal grandmother of writer Jósika Miklós came from The Csákys. An inventory kept since 1854 recorded a beautiful building made of rooms, writer's desk,a chapel. The Jósikas modified the building some consider its current form is thansk to them.

*Is certain that at nationalization castle was The Jósikas' property. Here lived, worked writer Jósika Miklós until 1853, founder of Hungarian romantic novel. Pictures presents all remain from castle, except stone lions which can be seen in Wesselényi park.
