Porumbești, Greek-catholic church

The Greco-Catholic believers in Porumbești are descendants of Ruthenian and Slovak families relocated here in the 18th century. They are Hungarian and Greek Catholics. Their church was built of brick in 1831. However, the foundation of the brick still creates many problems.

The walls are always moist and damp. The interior painting took place between 1921 and 1983.

Székesi János painter from Sipet made the painting. The most important piece of the interior is the iconostasis. It was brought from Muncaci, Ukraina, it is not known who and when it was made, but surely it is older than the church.

The doors of the altar are very beautiful, they are trampled and medallions painted with the faces of the saints.
