Călinești, Căeni, Wooden church

There are two wooden churches in Călinești. The Cave was moved here in 1663, being built by some historians in 1390. In the nineteenth century the church was enlarged by about 3 meters and the porch was added. It is spacious, the roof rests on ten pillars and arches.

The side walls are decorated with the teeth of the saw teeth. Shingle roof bell tower rises above the pre-nave. The poles of the tower in the tower, caught in the crown, hold the very sharp helmet, ending with a three-crossed cross.

The interior painting made in 1754 by Alexandru Ponehalschi, restored after 2000, was well preserved.

Saints, angels, biblical scenes make up a valuable set of murals. The iconostasis has three registers, the upper one sees Jesus Crucified, the Sun and the Moon, in the narthex dominates a single theme, the Last Judgment. The souls, formed by small characters, are taken to a wheelbarrow, a devil carrying a group of people back to a dragon serpent, groups of people heading for judgment, and the death at the bottom.
