Fortress Attacked by the SzeklerRoad: DN 13a The first fortress of the town was built in 1492 during the reign of László II. For a while there had lived the Ninorites then after the 1562's foil of the szekler between 1562-65 it was rebuilt after the behest of sovereign János Zsigmond. It was a bolstering of checking the szekler that revolted against him who were revolted because of the suppression of their former rights. The szekler availing their first chance they accosted voivode Mihai who promissed them hungarian freedom and in 1599 they reaved the abominate fortress. But voivode Mihai died soon after and the Congress of Lécfalvai disposed the rebuilding of the fortress as a reminder for the szekler not to base their freedom on outlender's promises. The fortress was rebuilt in 1621. During the Rákóczi-revolution it had been occupied by the Austrian troops then count Pekri Lőrinc war-lord of the kurucz troops in 1706 teared it down definitively by the szekler in advance of geting it into the enemy's hand. The Csonkavár still lies in ruins.
