Both the blue triangle and the red dot trails start at the tourist lodge. After an hour of climbing we found ourselves in the realm of alpine meadows, dwarf pines and cranberry bushes. Another hour through a rocky region and we reach the grassy Mosului ridge (2200m) where the blue triangle trails take another course. We descend on the left passing by a waterfall and reaching the bank of the river Urlea. Here we encounter the blue stripe trails, which start at Lake Urlea and lead to the main ridge of Fagras mountains. We turn left again and after following a very narrow path we reach the Zarnei saddle (1923m.) From here the Zarnei lodge is only about 100m away.
