The red triangle, as well as the blue streak trails start at the tourist lodge and lead us to the upper glacial edge of Podgaru. We soon take leave of the blue streak trails and in 25 minutes we find ourselves in Curmătura dintre Lacuri, 2270m. We start descending into Podragelul valley and than we climb to Podragelul saddle (2135m.) Once there we turn left. We go trough Vartop valley, and reach the next ascending area in Fruntii valley. Our ascension ends at Strunga Fruntii pass from where we descend into Pietroasa valley. We pass through it and then climb to Portiţa Arpaşului, aka Strunga Mică, 2175m. The wiev is magnificent: on the right we can see Fereastra Zmeilor, while on the left La trei paşi de moarte is an amazing sight.
