The red cross trail starts at Cabana Bărcaciu. We go past the spring that provides water for the tourist lodge and we start climbing on a side range of Bărcaciu. The next step is Scărişoara and we reach the source of Auristei river. So far we have done 2 ¼ hours of walking. After about another 10 minutes we are already climbing on the clefty section of Tarniţei. Then we cross masses of fallen rocks and around 15-20 minutes later we reach the main crest below peak Scara
