One of the most beautiful places in Transylvania is the Liteni fortress, built in the 13th century, above the Iara valley. The royal domain until 1441 was thrown into the air by the fortress's defenders, forced to give it to Prince Bathory's troops in 1562.

Lossing military significance, in 1569 he came to the property of Governor Gheczy János, who rebuilt the fortress. The oldest part is the old tower in whose 2m walls there are only 2 floors in the northern part. The top fortress at the top of the cliff was surrounded by a thick wall.

It was destroyed during the 1562 explosion. The bottom fortress that sheltered the annexed buildings emerged during the reconstruction. Under the bastion was a cellar dug into the rock. The bottom fortress had a wall of 1.6 m, the entrance being under the gate tower, probably through a wooden bridge.

The fortress was inaccessible from the west. It was destroyed in unknown circumstances.
