The first church of Vadu Moților (Săcătură) was built in 1516 with a wooden shingle roof. In 1884 it was burned by a lightning fire. It burned completely, and the three bells melted from the heat, leaving only a metal table, from which a 45 kilogram bell was poured into Sibiu. The current church was built between 1885-1893, and besides the bell made of the material after the fire, they bought two bells. One in 1917/18 was erected for military purposes by the representatives of the Austro-Hungarian empire. In 1921 and 1935 the church received 2 bells from the emigrants believers in the United States.
