According to the written documents of the 18th century there had already been an orthodox old church in the village constructed for Saint Ioan Botazatorul, however, having certain dimensions too poor, made merely of wood. The actual church created for the same saint was created between 1853-1855 and this became one of the most famous cult place from a dimensional point of view in the whole region (Clisura Dunarii and Poliadia), having a large tower with five little bells and a mechanism for showing the time. Initially this church had a proper roof and heavy stone walls. At the beginning of the 20th century it was painted by Frantz Vainhepl, but time did not conserve these paintings, thus a new painter did his job on the same wood walls, called Ladislav Veres. In the new tower however, we can find some beautiful old gates and small statues. We can also found circa 40 books of the 18-19th century, mainly practical and religious ones.
