On south-west of Nușfalău locality, in a pasture located near forest we can see a series of strange mounds which are named "curgan". Mounds made by humans were used as burial place, used by avars or slaves. It is said that at end of XIX century there were many such mounds only three were kept, the bigest of all has the diameter of 38 m and height of 6.5 m. The word "curgan" in Turkish means cremation place and is believed that under the mounds Turkish remains could be found. Some think that the mounds were made by carrying ground with cap.

Burial chambers were made of oak and were covered with ground mixed with gravel, sand and sawdust. Six chambers were explored by historians between 1878 and 1890 and three in 1958, some old objects were found. The bigest mound is unexploited yet. Excepting a part of the big mound all others are covered by vegetation and aren't accesible because there is no road, fortunately can be seen from the road.
