Șărmășag, Kemény manor

Sărmășag locality was the property of The Sarmasághys, but it ends up in the property of The Keménys when Ana, daughter of landlord Sarmasághy János married with Kemény János. Kemény Farkas, the nephew of Kemény János built in 1745 the family manor.

In 1893 the Kemény manor is bought by merchant Fröhlich Albin. His wife Paula gave birth to two children: Henrietta și Albin. The last one adopts Wersebe Hartwig, Henriete's boy, who changed his name in Wersebe-Frölich Hartwig and inherited the castle. After the nationalization it became school, dispensary, hospital and police headquarters, its state deteriorated continuously. The building renovated between 2006 and 2009 houstes conference halls and festivities, library and an ethnografic expozition. The statue in front of the building was built in Prince Kemény János's memory.
