The Statue of King MátyásKing Mátyás is a Clujan man who had become king of Hungary and he reigned between 1458 and 1490. He was a just and good king therefore he was loved by his subjects. After his heath it come into being the saying: The king died, the justice died. The Clujans as a sign of their respect wanted to build up a statue to the considerable personality of the city. They've raked in money and laid the charge of building up the statue on János Fadrusz that was exposed in 1902. The jury of the Parisian World's fair placed in 1900 gave to the sculptor the first prize. Since then, the bronze-king has been looking from his horse in the company of his subjects over the happenings.
