This house belonged to opposition politician Gros Mikes János, a great lover of art and theater. It was built in 1846 in a classicist style. The original atmosphere still retains only the stairwell and the gate area. The floor is supported by two large statues representing Atlas.

The house was bought in 1912 by the estate and entrepreneur Tischler Mór, who rebuilt the upper part of the building. The German Democratic Forum is currently headquartered.
