The oldest church in the city, St. Nicholas Catholic Church located in the Little Square, was built in the fifteenth century. In 1547, when the masses accepted the transition to the new religion, the three Catholic churches existing at that time were reformed. In 1687 the Jesuits settled in the city, and in 1711 they received the churches back, but this was the only one that could be used.

The other churches, St. Stephen and St. Martin, were unfortunately destroyed by lightning. Altar painting was painted by Mayer Megyeri, Budapest.
